about bauhausfm

Since its founding on 15 December 1998, bauhaus.fm has operated as the radio station of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar — the first university radio in Thuringia to receive a broadcast licence. Rooted in the Chair of Experimental Radio, it functions both as a training and production platform for students and as a live broadcast presence on 106.6 MHz FM, a frequency shared with the Weimar community radio Radio LOTTE.

„Fail, fail again, fail better“ — Beckett’s words sit at the heart of bauhaus.fm’s ethos. The station treats the studio as a laboratory: a space for radio plays, live transmissions, journalistic formats, and experimental radio art, where every member is free to shape their own show. It serves students of the Bauhaus-Universität and the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, and has extended its reach through collaborations beyond Weimar.

bauhaus.fm broadcasts live every Monday from 19:00 to 23:00, with a 24/7 stream available online. The weekly editorial meeting takes place Wednesdays at 16:00 in the Maschinenraum at Marienstraße 18. Its broadcast licence, renewed in December 2024, runs until 2028 — marking over a quarter century of experimental radio practice at the Bauhaus.
