Between TikTok, politics and crime series: the future of public service broadcasting
Representatives from media policy, academia, private media and public service broadcasting will address the students’ thoughts and questions during the summaery2025. The aim is to explore together how the mandate, implementation and organisation of public service broadcasting can be shaped so that it remains critical, constructive and relevant in the future. What tasks does public service broadcasting today fulfil – and what tasks should it assume in the future?
An open workshop at the Faculty of Media will expand on the discussion: interested participants can reflect on and debate current issues and possible solutions at a series of stations. The aim is to explore alternative perspectives and develop preliminary ideas for viable media models.
The events are part of the summaery2025 and invite a collective rethink of the public media mandate. Students will present their concepts for information and communication spaces in a poster exhibition: from strategies for using commercial platforms through innovative formats for knowledge sharing to visions for their own public media platform. The projects encourage a critical and creative discussion on what a strong public media mandate could look like in the digital age.
