In this lecture the importance of creativity for the generation and application of innovations will be discussed from a current and scientific standpoint. Especially the frictions between creativity and management will be looked at closely. Current theories on creativity focus less on the individual and its skills and attributes but emphasize mental, cognitive and associative processes in groups and systems. In the lecture these approaches on creativity will be worked on an discussed: creativity in the workplace, creative networks, organizational learning, diversity and heterogeneity, barriers of creativity and innovation. This lecture is part of the study module Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Creativity in companies and organizations is connected to develop new and useful ideas for products, services, processes and working cycles. Being new and useful are the key criteria to be able to call something creative. This lecture explores the origins, the research and the usage of creativity in companies. It will be taught how to organize ideas and creativity to generate new products. To achieve this traditional and current methods and concepts of creativity encourangement and idea implementation will be discussed. In groups creativity techniques will looked at and practiced. Additionally current research approaches on creativity, workplace design, diversity and innovation will be discussed. The lecture is part of the module Creativity and Business Models.
