Research Focus

  • Innovation  and idea management – generieration of ideas in companies and networks, development of innovations using new technologies and approaches. Developing a flexible and free environment/frame work for creative teams.
  • Business modelin in the creative and cultural economy – How do different companies in the sector creative and cultural economy differ? What do they have in common? What typical business models can be explored?
  • Creativity and management - Creative and economical thinking are not opposing views anymore but have more in common than one might think. The „classic“ division in non-creative manager and hard-to-manage creative thinker seems outdated. The division between commerce and culture/creativity is a result of an educational system that pushes people towards specialization.
  • Entrepreneurship and support/consulting in the founding process of new projects in the creative and cultural economy
  • Design Thinking/Prototype based innovation management - creative processes, that try to emulate the way of thinking of a designer: understanding, observing, finding ideas, fine-tuning, rendering, testing. The main focus lies on the actual needs and motives of the people. Concepts and ideas are promptly converted into prototypes that are promptly converted into prototypes that are checked on and edited constantly.
  • Co-Creation/Open-Innovation – New forms of interactive value creation of companies and networks

Cooperations

Technology transfer research at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena

The technology transfer research group at FSU Jena is dedicated to the improvement of technology transfer processes. Professor Lutz Maicher and his team designs and implements innovative, data-driven tools for enhancing knowledge flows between and within organisations.

Technology transfer can be understood as creative knowledge management. Researchers work on ways how creative potential can be managed and used in the development of innovative products. In the area of technology transfer, this kind of innovation is especially relevant since it implies the creation of new and unconventional ways which facilitate that new technologies find their way into the market. Bringing these two topics together synergetically, we work in close collaboration with our colleagues in Jena in order to rethink creativity and transfer.
