Free Space Prefab Rudolstadt

The demolition of a prefabricated building in a residential area in Rudolstadt resulted in free space to develop a community center and meeting place for residents. Designing the area as an ideal free space is the subject of this project, which should be maintained from concept, to coordination, to execution planning. A mergence of local initiatives, organizations and actors has driven the project ahead and now, with financing from the state lottery funds, it can be planned and implemented.

Our focus is on collaboration with the residents who will retain a new neighbourhood center through this project. Brainstorming, design and participatory planning should be handled together by each student design group, as you would expect from an office team.

The project is aimed at students who like to work in a team, are interested in participatory planning and its implementation and who want to address the topics of plattenbau, urban space and neighbourhoods.
