A bridge-builder between research and philanthropy
Dr Nathalie Jean-Baptiste embodies a visionary fusion of academia and social engagement. She studied for a Master’s degree in European Urban Studies from 2005 to 2007. A PhD graduate of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, she is now Deputy CEO and Head of Programmes at the Julius Bär Foundation. As an internationally recognised expert in urban infrastructure and social justice, she brings a pioneering perspective on sustainable innovation across continents. Her focus extends beyond traditional start-up narratives – placing people, inclusive systems and a clear, sustainable impact on the future at the centre.
Nathalie Jean-Baptiste travels all over the world. Her ‘hands-on’ mentality, which she learned at the Bauhaus University Weimar, sets her apart from her colleagues. She has seen so much of the world that she finds it impossible not to be active and to make whatever contribution she can towards a better world. Yet her career path has never been straightforward, but rather ‘all over the place’, meaning she knows and understands many different fields. When Nathalie Jean-Baptiste comes to tranquil Weimar, she can reflect. Just as she did back when she studied and worked here. For hours on end in the university library, on walks and around the city. Let’s accompany Nathalie Jean-Baptiste on one of her visits.
