Elodie Vittu

Since January 2019 Dr. Elodie Vittu is the Manager for the Institute for European Urban Studies (IfEU). In cooperation with the directorate, at the interface between Academic Executive Board and University Administration, she coordinates the activities of the institute. Further, Elodie Vittu is the Academic Counsellor of the Master Programme „European Urban Studies“ and organises the supervision of the "Guided Research Projektes". Her research interests lie in areas such as Right to the City, right to housing, citizen participation in large-scale projects (Grand Pari(s), Les Halles, Potsdamer Platz), Housing politics, gentrification, and urban redevelopment. 

Vita

After studying architecture in Lille and a Master’s degree in urban and regional planning at the University Sorbonne in Paris Nord, Elodie Vittu obtained a double diploma in Urban and Regional Planning at the French Institute of Urban Planning (IFU) at the university Paris-Marne-la-Vallée and the Institute of Urban- and Regional Planning at the TU Berlin.

 

From 2008 until 2018 she had been academic assistant at the chair of “Spatial Planning and Research” at the Bauhaus University. She then received a PhD in the field of urbanism. Between 2015 and 2017 Elodie held a scholarship of the Graduate Funding of the Free State of Thuringia.

Research | Teaching

During her time as academic assistant, Elodie Vittu supervised multiple urban planning projects in the Bachelor programme “Urbanistik” and offered seminars in the German- and English-speaking Bachelor and Master programmes. Elodie Vittu had been responsible for “internationalization” during the implementation of the 4-year long Bachelor programme “Urbanistik”. Within the framework of the “Studienreformwerkstatt”, she is developing supervision tools with blended learning concepts for an integrated research semester: the  Guided Research Projekt. Moreover, she is moderating student-run projects, funded by Bauhaus.Module.

Elodie Vittu is a member of the research Team „Weimarer Wohnungsforschung". She is a founding member of the idle network “Forum Stadtforschung” and a member of INURA (International Network of Urban Research and Action). Further, she is the initiator of the international (post-)doctoral network of the IfEU.
