Jahrestreffen des SPP 2255 Kulturerbe Konstruktion

12./13. Mai 2022, im alten Dieselkraftwerk Cottbus (BLMK) /

Das erste Jahrestreffen des DFG-Schwerpunktprogramms Kulturerbe Konstruktion eröffnet den Mitwirkenden aus den verschiedenen Teilprojekten die Einblicknahme in verwandte Fragestellungen und Untersuchungsmethoden sowie Möglichkeiten zum intensiven fachlichen Austausch und zur Vernetzung. Vorträge, Diskussionsrunden und Vor-Ort-Besichtigungen bieten Gelegenheiten zum Blick über die Grenzen der eigenen Disziplinen sowohl im Hinblick auf die eigene Projektbearbeitung als auch in Bezug auf das Jahresthema 2021 „Bauen am Limit“

Colonial Heritage in Thuringia

Since the end of 2021, the State of Thuringia has been funding an academic coordination office for colonial heritage in Thuringia, which is based at the universities of Erfurt and Jena. Under the title "Colonial Heritage in Thuringia - A Panel Discussion on the Topicality of the Colonial Past", the official launch event will now take place on Monday, 2 May in Jena at 6pm. All interested parties are cordially invited to register to take place in person. The event can be viewed simultaneously via livestream.

Call for Papers: Dutch Art and Cultural History

This year, the Young Researchers' Study Days of the Research Group for Dutch Art and Cultural History will take place in Weimar from 10-11 June. The event is aimed at doctoral students and PostDocs as well as students who are aiming for a doctorate. The workshop includes a visit to the Graphic Collection of the Klassik-Stiftung and to the exhibition "The Lost Masterpieces" at Friedenstein Castle in Gotha. Abstracts (max. 300 words) in German or English, together with a short CV, can be submitted until 25 April.

Made in Germany? Workshop geplant zum kolonialen Erbe des Labels

Der Projekt-Workshop in Kooperation mit dem IRS Erkner, der Universität Gent, dem Bauhaus-Institut für Theorie und Geschichte und dem IfEU ist für alle Interessierte geöffnet. Neben der Präsentation vorläufiger Forschungsergebnisse aus dem Projekt "Conquering (with) Concrete. German Construction Companies as Global Players in Local Contexts. sollen Diskussionen über das Erbe des Labels "Made in Germany" und über dem Umgang mit dem kolonialen Erbe in Subsahar-Afrika stehen.

Recalling the Omitted: Exploring the spatial development of the modern industrial legacies in Egypt

At present, Egypt still lags behind other countries in the accelerating global initiative to document and safeguard modern industrial heritage. This is clearly visible in the vast destruction of its historical industrial structures, an action justifiable due to the perplexing official recognition of its (in)tangible witnesses. In her thesis defense, Mirhan Damir presents the case of Alexandria, a port city and pivotal node between Egyptian and global markets.
