Night of Writing 2024

Design: werkraum_media

How do I get into writing, be it alone or with others? What can go wrong with an academic paper? How do I prepare for the final presentation of my art project? What do I need to know before publishing my texts? We explored these and other questions at the 10th Night of Writing on 13 June 2024. Under the motto »Rewind« we dedicate ourselves to the eraly stages of writing especially the moments of failure as an irreducible part of the writing process.

We would like to thank everyone involved once again and are already looking forward to the next night of writing.

Keynote by Nancy Hünger

Foto: Nancy Hünger

Nancy Hünger, born in 1981 studied Fine Arts at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. She is a writer and lives in Tübingen, where she heads the Studio for Literature and Theatre at Tübingen University. She has received several awards, including the Hermann Lenz Scholarship and the Dürener Förderstipendium Lyrik. She was a fellow of the Künstlerhaus Edenkoben and writer-in-residence in Tübingen. Most recently published "4 Uhr kommt der Hund. Ein unglückliches Sprechen". Dresden: Edition Azur, 2020; Abwesenheit. About Wolfgang Hilbig. Essay. Heidelberg, 2022.

Keynote »Einerlei. Wieder versuchen. Wieder scheitern. Besser scheitern. Eine Versuchsanordnung« by Nancy Hünger

In her keynote, Nancy Hünger circles around failure, against the effects of sovereignty. The ordinary, the productive, the necessary failure. The focus is on the work of language, the extent to which failure is a necessary condition of poetry in particular and of writing in general. Why does our language fail, and to what extent do we fail because of language?

The Keynote takes place at the Audimax immediatly after the opening of the Night of Writing at 6 p.m.. This will be followed by a conversation with Nancy Hünger by Dr Manuela Klaut (Chair of Art and Cultural History).

And it goes on after the event:
On 14 June 2024, Nancy Hünger and Stefan Petermann will give the workshop "Schreiben, scheitern, weiter schreiben – Eine Textwerkstatt". You can register for this Follow-Up workshop here.
