1) Why are you studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?
The inclusive and dynamic environment at Bauhaus University drew me in from the start. It is a place where diversity is celebrated, and the support provided to students is exceptional, ensuring that you always have the help you need to succeed.
What truly sets Bauhaus apart for me, though, is its avant-garde approach to integrating technology and design. This forward-thinking philosophy opens up exciting, innovative opportunities to explore research paths that are both challenging and rewarding.
In my program, I've had the unique chance to take courses across three different faculties—Architecture and urbanism, Art and Design, and Media. This interdisciplinary freedom has equipped me with a wide range of tools and perspectives, allowing me to enrich my design expertise and continuously expand my skillset. I feel empowered to creatively merge these diverse fields, making my research journey here an incredibly fulfilling experience.
2) What is special about your project? Why is it relevant?
Throughout my studies, I've had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies such as visual programming with Touchdesigner, physical computing and IoT with Arduino Uno and sensors, web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as image data processing and machine learning. These tools have played a key role in shaping my research approach.
In my most recent project, I designed a physical interface that allowed users to manipulate web-based digital models in an augmented reality environment. This integration of physical and digital realms not only expanded my understanding of interaction design but also inspired me to delve deeper into extended reality (XR) technologies.
Currently, I am working on the technical aspects of my thesis, which centers around the use of XR technologies. The project holds significant potential for advancements in design, user interfaces, and immersive environments.
3) If applicable: What characterises your voluntary commitment in Weimar?
Since June 2022, I have been actively involved at Bauhaus University as a Diversity Guide. Together with my team, we work to ensure the university remains a welcoming and inclusive space. Through organizing campus events and offering weekly peer-to-peer counseling, we promote diversity and strive to keep Bauhaus open to all.
