Further information on the StarTH scholarship:
What is the aim of the StarTH scholarship?
The aim of the funding is to provide start-up founders with financial support for preparing and applying for start-up-related funding programmes (in particular the EXIST Start-up Grant and EXIST Research Transfer). Projects that are on the verge of spin-off or market entry are also eligible for funding. The programme provides a flexible in-kind funding budget and deliberately avoids a cumbersome proposal and reporting process. This enables the next stages of development to be implemented quickly and without red tape.
What does the StarTH scholarship offer me?
Founders with a compelling business plan can receive support through the StarTH grant in the form of a budget for in-kind resources to further develop their start-up idea.
The funding may include the following academic achievements:
- Financial support for the further development of the project (up to €3,000 for individual founders or €6,000 for teams), to be used as a budget for in-kind resources, e.g. for prototype development, materials, market analyses or testing
- Workspace and infrastructure at the neudeli start-up workshop, including access to the MakerLabs
- Individual support from the neudeli team, e.g. in preparing an EXIST proposal or planning specific next steps towards market entry
The funding is intended for the specific further development of the start-up project and is not intended to cover general living expenses.
Who can submit an application?
The StarTH Scholarship is aimed at undergraduates, PhD students and academic and artistic associates (up to a maximum of 6 months after completing their degree or leaving the university) from all departments at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Both individuals and teams are eligible to apply.
Funding is available for technology-oriented, knowledge-based and impact-oriented start-up projects in an advanced pre-seed phase with high practical value and market potential. Projects aimed at self-employment may also be eligible for funding.
When and how can I submit an application?
Applications for the StarTH grants can be submitted several times a year. A prerequisite for an application is a compulsory initial meeting with the neudeli team, during which we will assess jointly whether the funding programme is suitable for your start-up project and what the next steps will be.
For the official application, we require:
- A pitch deck for the start-up project
- A milestone and resource budget plan for the intended funding period
Following internal consultation within the neudeli team, selected projects will be invited to an online pitch as part of the StarTH network. The pitch will be followed by a Q&A session. A final decision on the award of funding will then be made.
As the number of funding places is limited, we recommend getting in touch with the neudeli team at an early stage!
