This year, 2025, the Faculty of Art and Design was responsible for organising the summaery, including its motto and design, which this year is based on the concept of »ATTENTION«. This is, on the one hand, intended to draw attention to the fresh, clever experiments and projects that students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar have developed. ATTENTION – New ideas ahead. At the same time, it is a statement in support of values such as freedom of expression, diversity, equality, multiculturalism, and compassion. It also urges mindful treatment of the environment and climate for future generations.
»Preserving these values requires constant work and effort — it will always be a work in progress«, says Prof. Burkhart von Scheven, who developed the motto together with Prof. Markus Weisbeck. »Our summaery shows how science, art, and research contribute to this in critical, creative, and forward-thinking ways.« The motto is clearly visually depicted through the world of road construction sites: Direction system aesthetics, bright pink, oversized arrows, and the distorted lettering »ACHTUNG« (ATTENTION) can be found across all media — from posters to the website. The student-team of Mona Kerntke and Leonard Behre developed the visual identity of the event. »With the following in mind, we invite you to an annual exhibition as a large construction site across Weimar and beyond. A construction site where nearly everything is permitted and almost nothing is forbidden: ATTENTION – trespassing encouraged!«, says Burkhart von Scheven.
The traditional highlights of the summaery, such as the Opening Event on Thursday evening, the OpenLabNight, and the Lyonel Award Ceremony on Friday, the Alumni Reunion on Saturday, and the Summer Reel on Saturday night are just as much a part of the event as this year’s surprises, which will only be announced in the programme booklet and on the website at the beginning of the event.
All programme information, including exhibited projects will be available shortly on the summaery2025 website: www.uni-weimar.de/summaery
