Initiated by the Lyonel Verein zur Förderung von Kunst und Kultur, an association that promotes art and culture, the award is endowed with 2,000 euros in prize money. The Lyonel Art Prize is awarded to a graduate of the Faculty of Art & Design and honours outstanding achievements in their final thesis.
This year’s nominees for the award are the fine arts students Sahrah Feyerabend, Jakob Nickels and Fabian Reetz. Their work will be showcased in a group exhibition at Berkaer Straße 11 in Weimar as part of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s annual exhibition.
The nominees and award winner are selected by an expert jury. Renowned experts could once again been recruited for this year’s event, namely Mike Geßner (curator, Kunstraum Potsdam), Dr. Kassandra Nakas (art historian, Berlin) and Dr. Sabine Maria Schmidt (curator, Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz).
The exhibition is being curated by a team from the »marke.6« student initiative for the fourth time. Artistic Associate Florian Hesselbarth is responsible for coordination.
