Ankommen, wo man schon war. Prof. Dr. Rebekka Ladewig ist neue Professorin für Geschichte und Theorie der Kulturtechniken

Rebekka Ladewig kennt die Fakultät Medien schon: Von 2018 bis 2020 vertrat sie die Professur für Geschichte und Theorie der Kulturtechniken, seit dem 1. Februar 2026 hat sie sie inne. Dazwischen lagen Gastprofessuren in Wien, Offenbach und Karlsruhe, Fellowships und Forschungsaufenthalte in Weimar, Wien und Oxford und ein von der Volkswagenstiftung gefördertes Forschungsprojekt zur Kultur- und Bildgeschichte des Pfeils.

New publication in the Freigeist Fellowship: Marlon Miguel releases Falatório / Chatter

Marlon Miguel, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Freigeist project “Madness, Media, Milieus” sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation at the Faculty of Media at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, has published his monograph Falatório / Chatter. The book was developed within the framework of the research project “Madness, Media, Milieus. Reconfiguring the Humanities in Postwar Europe.”

Medienwissenschaftlerin Dr. Elena Vogman gibt Sonderausgabe des renommierten e-flux Journals heraus

Dr. Elena Vogman, Freigeist Fellow der Volkswagenstiftung an der Fakultät Medien, hat gemeinsam mit dem Philosophen und Medientheoretiker Matteo Pasquinelli die Ausgabe 162 des renommierten e-flux Journal herausgegeben. Das e-flux Journal zählt zu den international einflussreichsten Plattformen für zeitgenössische Kunst, Medientheorie und kritische Kulturtheorie und fungiert als zentrale Schnittstelle zwischen künstlerischer Praxis, Medientheorie und kritischer Gegenwartsanalyse.

New Event Series: »Medien und Demokratie im Umbruch«

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Weimarer Republik e.V. are opening the invitation to the »Medien und Demokratie im Umbruch« six-part event series starting on 29 April 2026. Experts from the fields of science, media industry, and society will be discussing the relationship between media transformation and democratic society at the Haus der Weimarer Republik’s Forum for Democracy. The events are open to the public and free of charge.

Passionately Engaging with Challenging Research Questions: »GRAMA« Research Training Group Reflects on Six Years of Success

On 31 March, the six-year project period of the DFG-funded Media Anthropology research training group (GRAMA) at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Faculty of Media came to an end. Last Friday, members of the research training group gathered to celebrate an emotional farewell together with representatives from the University at the site of the former tram depot (Lichthaus Kino).

Award of Excellence for Graduate Maya Kurth: Fourth Consecutive Award for European Medienkultur

Major success for the Faculty of Media and the European Medienkultur (EMK) degree programme: On Thursday, 29 January 2026, Maya Kurth was the fourth EMK graduate in a row to receive the Excellence Award for the top graduates of the Deutsch-Französischen Hochschule (DFH) at the German Embassy in Paris. The prize, funded by the German-French television broadcaster ARTE, is endowed with 1,500 euros.
