On Friday, 11th of July 2025, Michael Braun successfully defended his doctoral dissertation (with "summa cum laude").

The dissertation is entitled "Potenziale Digitaler Handwerklichkeit – Ein modell-basierter Ansatz zur Wiederentdeckung handwerklicher Prozessualität im digitalen Entwurfs- und Fertigungsprozess, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des robotischen 3D-Drucks von Porzellan" and fosters radically new ways of design and making in the digital age. As such, Michael Braun proposes an expanded (crafts) model to integrate computational design and robotic fabrication, enabling truly interactive, situational und reflexive digital-material cultures.
