WiSe24-25 // Shaping Sound

Shaping Sound – from concept to synthesis

From perceiving sound to auditory memory, from aural imagination to concrete concepts, and from sound waves to audio production, a continuous process of epistemic and technical translation has always been involved, a process of sound design.

In this FM, we focus on sound design and audio synthesis. With the tool of verbalisation, notation, sketching, prototyping, we are to develop our own languages to share our sonic ideas and for interdisciplinary communication. And with the visual programming language Pure Data / Max, we will get into basic techniques of audio synthesis such as additive, subtractive, modulation, granular…etc.
