Technical Basics of Audio Production

This module is designed for advanced Bachelor’s and Master’s students in the field of sound who already have experience in audio production but want to strengthen or refresh their technical foundations.

Rather than a conventional lecture series, this module is delivered in four intensive two day long block sessions. Each session is hands-on, combining theory with practical application.

From recording to playback – this module covers the technical essentials crucial for professional audio production:

Microphone Techniques – Types, placement, signal flow, and their application in different scenarios

DAW Setup & Workflow – Structuring sessions, working efficiently, and organizing projects effectively

Editing & Montage – Clean cuts, precise arrangements, and professional handling of audio material

Mixing Strategies – Equalization, dynamics processing, effects, and crafting a balanced mix
Playback & Monitoring – Room acoustics, speaker setup, and professional listening strategies

After completing the four block sessions, you will be able to make informed technical decisions, implement professional workflows, and refine your mixes with confidence. This module provides you with the tools to not only be creative but also technically proficient in the world of audio production.
