The Scholarships Sponsoring Association of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has supported especially talented students and doctoral candidates of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since the winter semester of 2007 until the end of the winter semester 2017. The association awarded up to ten scholarships each year, two of which are doctoral scholarships.

Students and doctoral candidates in all scientific and artistic disciplines, taught at the four faculties of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, have been eligible for this scholarship.

A university professor of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar recommended a student or doctoral candidate for consideration by writing a personal letter of recommendation. Candidates may not apply without professorial recommendation. The following candidates have been eligible for recommendation: undergraduates beginning their 3rd semester, Master’s degree students beginning their 2nd semester and doctoral candidates who have been accepted by the faculty’s graduation commission.

The scholarship package included both financial support and personal advising. The scholarship totalled 350 euros per month for a period of twelve months (1 April to 31 March), extensions had been possible.

Selection criteria has been notable talent and academic qualification, a proven outstanding academic achievement, innovative ideas and personal commitment.

Funding has been allocated on the basis of the Association’s scholarship award regulations, effective February 2007.
