Our literature collections are assembled in cooperation with various university groups and provide gateways to different socially relevant issues. We continually add new collections.

Classism
This collection was compiled in cooperation with the Diversity Department as part of the 2025 thematic focus on Classism. It brings together the aspects of disadvantage and discrimination on the basis of social status/origin (classism) and on the basis of impairment and chronic illness (ableism).

AUSBLICKSPUNKTE.
In remembrance of French sociologist and philosopher Maurice Halbwachs, this collection features books by and about Halbwachs and his groundbreaking theory of collective memory. In honour of Halbwachs the university renamed its largest auditorium to Maurice-Halbwachs-Auditorium.
In summer 1944 Halbwachs was deported to the Buchenwald concentration camp near Weimar and died in March 1945 from the conditions of his imprisonment.

Racism-critical university
This literature collection was created in cooperation with the diversity department within the 2024 focus topic »racism-critical university«. The selected books and films are meant to provide an impulse to as well as to help you consider the topic of racism in your research or art and include it as a topic in lectures.

Climate protection and sustainability
The books in this collection provide well-founded information to help design projects in accordance with the 17 UN sustainability goals. Additionally the selection is meant to encourage you to take a conscious look at the ecological reorienting of construction and the possibilities offered by renewable energies in order to make your cities more sustainable and to create an environmentally friendly culture of civil engineering.

Erinnern gestalten
We created this collection in cooperation with the research project »Geschichte der Bauhausstraße 11« (The history of Bauhausstrasse 11). It contains literature on the current state of architectural, planning and medical historical research on national socialism in Weimar and Thuringia, collects perspectives on new interpretations of remembrance politics in the distant and recent past, and emphasizes that right-wing extremism is a threat to this day.

UkrainianLIT
As a reaction to Russia's attack on Ukraine we collected specialized information and media on Ukraine's history, politics and society as well as on peace studies.

QUEER.LIT
The first Weimar university library literature collection was initiated and organized by students and the CatCalls of Weimar collective. The QUEER.LIT shelf could be found in a new library area each month with the intent to increase the visibility of queer feminist literature.
