Research Stay: Multiscale consequence studies for hazard impact on structures in Iraq (25 Nov - 31. Dec 2022)
The field work included collection of past earthquakes, flood and meteorological data as well as the instrumentation and monitoring of blast-damaged buildings in the city Mosul. In addition, a large-scale building stock survey was initiated through a hybrid-workshop (attended by 45 students and 18 members of the academic staff) to identify the dominant building typologies and representative features of the structures in Iraq. The collected data will be used to classify the building typologies based on vulnerability, develop multi-scale risk maps and, assess the damaged structures within ongoing PhD studies.
