Prof. Markus Weisbeck was commissioned by the National Gallery of Canada in 2023 to design the visual communication for the Canadian Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale. The graphic concept refers to parts of the work »Trinket« by the artist Kapwani Kiwanga. A suspension of the architecture using tiny seed beads made of Murano glass forms the elementary element of the work. A publication designed by Studio Markus Weisbeck will appear in October as a separate artistic work with images by the commissioned photographer Helene Binet.  

The Biennale di Venezia is an international art exhibition that has been held every two years since 1895, making it the oldest biennale and the oldest international exhibition of contemporary art. The main venue is the Giardini della Biennale in the Castello district, where 28 countries present themselves in their national pavilions, including Canada. This year, the Biennale takes place from 20 April to 24 November.
