10.6. »SiestAria: Rhythms of Rest« – Florencia Curci and Tatiana Heuman @ Sonic Talk

Curci and Heuman will share a live sonic space built with shruti box, radios, field recordings, and synthesized textures, inviting participants to lie down and drift. They will discuss how rhythm operates not only in movement and sound but also in the subtle flows of sleep, imagination, and shared vulnerability. What happens when we attune to each other through rest rather than productivity?

Florencia Curci and Tatiana Heuman developed the »Siesteria”« together. They began their sonic journey as drummers in the underground of experimental music in Buenos Aires Argentina. They met improvising and playing together. Curci and Heuman have come together multiple times to work in different constellations such as the transfeminist sound platform #VIVAS and the current project »SiestAria«, dedicated to navigating crises through rest, caring and listening to dreams. The »Siesteria« has been shown at HKW Berlin (DE), CASo (AR), and Festival Tsonami (CL) among others.

The »Siesteria« is not a performance, but an invitation to pause together and tune into altered states.

Time:
Tuesday, 10 June 2025, 19 h

Place:
Studio 1
Steubenstraße 6a
99423 Weimar

Participants are invited to bring a mat, blanket, or anything that helps them rest.

»Sonic Talks« is a new series of events organised by the chairs of »Experimental Radio’«and »Acoustic Ecologies and Sound Studies« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. They tie in with the topics of the semester. In the 2025 summer semester, the »Sonic Talks« will focus on rhythm, sound and healing.

Florencia Curci is a sound artist and curator. Through radio experimentation and artistic research, she aims to develop collective tools to challenge and resist dominant monoculture. Curci studied Expanded Music at the Universidad Nacional de San Martín and completed the Artists Program at the Torcuato Di Tella University. Since 2017, she has directed the Centro de Arte Sonoro (CASo). Her installations, radio pieces, and performances have been commissioned by institutions such as KunstRadio, AMEE, and CA2M, and presented internationally at events like Festival Aural (Mexico), MediaLab Prado (Spain), and Tsonami Sound Art Festival (Chile). In 2022, she completed a Radio Art Residency at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Tatiana Heuman works in the fields of sound, media art and movement research. In 2014 she started her solo electronic music project »Qeei« with which she explored the margins of club music. She has performed at festivals such as CTM and Heroines of Sound. Heuman's current research is focused on perceptual phenomena and the oneiric field. She has trained in Deep Listening, Somatic Education and Craniosacral Therapy. In 2023, she initiated the artistic research project SiestAria, focused on exploring listening in dreams. During the last years, Heuman has collaborated as a musician with choreographers Olivia Hyunsin Kim and Constanza Macras, performing at theatres such as Sophiensaele and Volksbühne.
