The Bauhaus.Atelier | Info Shop Café is the central contact point for guests of the university. In the former Brendel Studio next to the Main Building, student employees offer information, a café invites you to linger and numerous souvenirs and products from the university can be discovered in the shop.

UNESCO World Heritage Bauhaus Weimar

The State Bauhaus Weimar marks an important epoch in the more than 150-year history of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. This is where the Bauhaus was founded by Walter Gropius in 1919. Learn more about the founding sites at the university, which include the Main Building and the Van de Velde Building. Together with the Bauhaus sites in Dessau, they were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996.

Bauhaus Walks

Experience the historic Bauhaus and the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Weimar today. Students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will guide you through the founding sites of the Bauhaus on the Bauhaus Walks, explaining the history and present of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. You can visit all three Weimar Bauhaus sites as part of the Long Bauhaus Walk.

Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

With its four faculties for Architecture and Urbanism, Civil Engineering, Art and Design, and Media—our university is unique in Germany. Oure goal ist to shape the future and to transcend disciplinary boundaries—through experimentation, openness, creativity and internationality. It is with this mission that we research, teach and study at the historic founding site of the Bauhaus and, inspired by its ideas, have borne »Bauhaus« in our name since 1996.

Located in the cultural town of Weimar, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar with its eventful past comprising more than 150 years of compelling history, today exist in an experimental environment, friendly atmosphere and through all those who study, teach, research and work here.
