New speakers of the Pro.Doc

Anne-Kathrin Müller, who has been active in the Pro.Doc Doctoral Council for more than 3 years and is herself working on a practice-based doctorate at the Faculty of Art and Design, will now take on the role of Speaker. Her specific goals are to improve the working conditions of doctoral candidates and postdocs, to help shape the doctoral framework regulations and to further expand networking with other doctoral candidate organisations in Central Germany.

Mahsa Mirboland from the Faculty of Civil Engineering will now be serving as Deputy Speaker. For Mahsa, the involvement of doctoral candidates in university policy is an important focus: she is committed to involving doctoral candidates even better in the university's decision-making processes.

Course description (pdf)

Dr. Bokai Liu, one of the participants:

»I was enrolled in Dr.Watts’ Technical English for 4 semesters at least. She is full of energy and enthusiasm when giving lectures. Her course settings are very reasonable and scientific. Especially in the first class, she will discuss with all her students and coordinate and set up subsequent courses according to everyone's needs. Dr. Watts' technical English is divided into two major parts, not only the writing of scientific English, but also the academic presentation and academic Poster. Under Dr. Watts' help, I successfully published my first academic paper. Her course has a profound impact on me and has a direct and irreplaceable role in my subsequent doctoral thesis writing and PhD defense. I feel very lucky to have met Dr. Watts during my doctoral research. I think I am fortunate enough to complete my doctoral research more efficiently with the help of her and this Technical English course.«

Dr. Bokai Liu did his doctorate at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and is currently working as a researcher at the Swedish Umeå Universitet in the field of Applied Physics and Electronics.
