Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Participates Thuringian »Mobilitätskonferenz« in Erfurt

Thuringia’s Infastructure Minister Steffen Schütz and State Secretary of Infrastructure Tobias J. Knoblich will be in attendance. The event will focus on three key mobility-promoting initiatives: The main topic is the Thüringer Mobilitätsnetzwerk (TMN), which connects key partners in the Thuringian transport sector and promotes sustainable mobility in the state. Minister Schütz will officially launch the TMN website on the first day of the event. The official launch of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)-funded »Mobilitätsverbund werthaltige ländliche Lebensräume«, or »MOVEwell« for short, will also take place at the event.

The project is a collaboration between seven partners led by the European Digital Innovation Hub Thuringia (EDIH) at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The goal of the project is to improve mobility is rural regions and increase the attractiveness of these areas as business locations and retain skilled labour. Prof. Uwe Plank-Wiedenbeck from the Professorship of Transport System Planning will be presenting the project on the first day of the conference. He will present further details on the project on the second day of the event.

The second day of the conference will include, among other things, the »Integrale Taktfahrplan (ITF) Thüringen 2030«, a project that aims to implement customer-friendly scheduling through cross-district planning and the targeted networking of regional bus routes with each other and with the railway, making public transport throughout Thuringia more attractive.

»Modern mobility and sustainable infrastructure across all regions of Thuringia provide a foundation for good development and sustainable prosperity in our state. The Thüringer Mobilitätsnetzwerk has brought together relevant partners from science, business, organisations, and politics to develop the best mobility solutions for our state. All modes of transport are equally considered and connected in logical ways. We focus particularly on improving connections to rural regions. After all, modern, digitally available, and reliable mobility services are the foundation for ensuring an equal quality of life in urban and rural areas«, says Minister Steffen Schütz ahead of the conference.

The mobility conference will be accompanied by the »Markt der Mobilität« exhibition. Partners from the Thuringian transport sector will be presenting innovative concepts and services - including for bus, rail, and cycle transport - in the indoor and outdoor areas of the COMCENTER Brühl. The »P-Mover«, a driverless minibus, will be on site as a special highlight. The TMN was founded last year. It aims to shape the transportation transition in Thuringia in a socially and regionally equitable way.
