The processes related to the establishment, development, accreditation and discontinuation of degree programmes are currently being analysed and documented in a process manual. The aim is to establish a shared understanding of workflows in order to enhance collaboration across faculties and administrative departments. These are among the university’s core processes. About the core processes (only in German).
In 2025, the university launched a project to define and document effective and standardised quality assurance cycles applicable across the entire institution. The initiative is based on the University’s Evaluation Regulations. For the 2025/26 winter semester, a workshop is planned to establish and optimise semester conferences involving teaching staff, administrative personnel and students from all four faculties.

What are our visions, and how can we implement them in teaching? The Teaching Mission Statement project, followed by the development of a comprehensive Teaching Strategy, was launched in May 2024. The QSE working group is playing a coordinating role in this process. To the website

The evaluation of the degree programme portfolio also commenced in 2024, a process that is being supported by the working group. The university's self-report was sent to the critical friends in November. During an audit in December 2024, the report was reviewed and initial recommendations were developed. The Bauhaus-Universität received the complete recommendation report in January 2025 and is currently engaging with the results.
The inter-faculty Work Group for Quality and Degree Programme Development was initiated by the Presidium and the faculty management. The aim of the QSE Work Group was to uphold the instructional strategy of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in a participatory working process. The Work Group also seeks to operationally optimise the study conditions and the structures of course supervision and examination administration, both within and across faculties. Another objective is to better interlink study- and quality-related communication processes and make them even more effective.
The commissioned task of the QSE Work Group is based on Framework Agreement V between the state government of Thuringia and the state’s universities (2021-2025) and the Performance and Services Agreement (ZLV) between the TMWWDG and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (2021-2025).
More specifically, the QSE Work Group is to concern itself with the following tasks:
The Vice-President of Academic Affairs and the members of the four faculty management bodies responsible for student and academic affairs are responsible for the overall process. The Presidium asked Institutional Development to coordinate this process.
