Physical collection

Please help yourself to any book or other library item on the shelves. The majority is available to borrow. A large number of items are stored in the nonpublic area of the library, the closed stacks. You may request these items at any time in BibSearch.

Feel free to take a virtual peek in the closed stacks.

Books are sorted on the shelf in order of their shelfmark. This mark also encodes their subject, ensuring you'll find books on similar subjects in the same place. An initial overview of subject areas follows; you can find a specific book's shelfmark - and thus its location - in BibSearch.

You will find our periodicals in different areas of the library, broadly sorted by subject. An initial overview follows.

Current year issues are available on our periodicals shelves. Periodicals from past years will be bound into volumes and sorted by shelfmark; please use the BibSearch to find out a given periodical's shelfmark. Periodicals older than ten years will be relocated to the closed stacks.

All periodicals may only be viewed within the library and not be taken out on loan.

Our DVD collection contains movies, TV shows and documentaries and is located in the main building, floor -1.

We additionally keep a collection of video tapes, CDs, CD-ROMs and other media types in the closed stacks that is available to request.

Players and viewing equipment are available for many media types.

The textbook collection in the main building, floor -1, contains books on all topics. It is set up specifically to contain books required for university lectures – usually several copies of each in order to give you a better chance to find the one you need.
