[This course is offered in German:] Workshop for all academic and artistic employees: Working in a research context often goes hand in hand with high pressure to perform and a lot of competition. The demands for perfection are enormous and there is little room for ambivalence. The work requires a strict time regime and is determined by the end of the contract. Sometimes there are also personal and social crises that disrupt the schedule.

INSIGHT AND OUTLOOK

Fellowship Forschungswerkstatt | Project insights

Since November 2022, the interdisciplinary team of nine researchers has been investigating changing housing desires and practices, architectural and urban planning conditions of home production and the social consequences of home and property ownership.

Visible to the Weimar city public, a construction sign drew attention to the crisis of the owner-occupied home, which was analysed in the Forschungswerkstatt using open methods - experimentally and empirically - from a social science, urban planning and architectural perspective. Following on from this, the team of students, doctoral candidates in very different phases of their doctorate, post-docs and alumni developed possible options for action in terms of a socio-ecological transformation.

The project website makes the results directly and multidimensionally accessible as a "Recherchewerk": www.forschungswerkstatt-eigenheim.de

The fellowships support teams of at least two early stage researchers with different disciplinary backgrounds and a joint research project. Further fellowship projects can be found here, where the calls for 2024 will also be published in the course of the year: Fellowships Forschungswerkstatt

New research training group (GRK) in autumn 2024
Social conflicts, ecological needs and the digitalisation of the living environment: if current social developments are shaping the built environment of tomorrow, what challenges, problems and contradictions will this cause for housing?

From autumn 2024, early stage researchers in Weimar and Frankfurt will conduct interdisciplinary research on the current housing situation. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Goethe University Frankfurt will receive over seven million euros in funding for the joint research training group (Graduiertenkolleg, GRK)  "Gewohnter Wandel. Gesellschaftliche Transformation und räumliche Materialisierung des Wohnens" from the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Over the entire funding period of nine years, up to 36 doctoral theses on housing issues can be completed. > more details
