Following the original Bauhaus philosophy of the "unity of art and technique", it is our goal to integrate the disciplines of civil engineering, architecture, economics and law and to deal with their interaction. We regard business economics in civil engineering as a specific management pedagogical doctrine that seeks to close the gaps between the purely economic and the various other aspects influencing the constantly changing business world.
Goals
Our main objective in research as well as in eduction and training is to contribute to the shaping of the continuous change in the building, real estate and infrastructure industry and related sectors. We are aiming to be a think tank politics, public administration, private enterprises and science.
Scope
Our spectrum of interest includes the public and private institutions of the three focused sectors and their resources as well as the different fields of activity in the value matrix of the "built environment" with the three dimensions:
· Type and function of the real estate or infrastructure asset
· Lifecycle phases (planning, construction, finance, investment, operation and maintenance)
· Individual tasks and activities within the different lifecycle phases
Eduction and Training
In our teaching activities we consequently break fresh ground in content and methodology in order to prepare young academics to cope with the challenges of the changing building, real estate and infrastructure markets and in particular the management tasks of the different public and private organizations acting in these markets.
Research
We seek to mainly initiate and work in projects that concern our predominantly applied research fields in the framework of our overall position.
Network
Our particular strength is our steadily growing international network consisting of scientific as well as industry partners representing the various stakeholder groups in the building, real estate and infrastructure sectors. Respecting our goals we consequently contribute to and use this network for our trans-disciplinary work.
Methodology
Our approach is interdisciplinary and process-oriented, our research and teaching activities scientifically well-founded, application-oriented and based on practical competence.
Resources
To finance our teaching and research activities we strive for a portion aboove average of external funding.
Competence
Overall, we want to align our work to the highest level of innovation. This requires a high level of competence, commitment, and care with respect to students, funding agencies and Partners. We like to be counted among those stakeholders of our area of activities known for thanking out of the box and to provide movement.
