Train
A number of Intercity trains stop in Weimar. One can reach Weimar relatively quickly via train from these cities: Berlin (3h), Frankfurt am Main (2.5h), Leipzig (50min) and Erfurt (15min). If you are coming from Munich, you should come to Weimar via Fulda. This has the benefit of only requiring one train change and it is quicker as well.
Further information is available at www.bahn.de.
The train station is situated in the north of the city centre. The university can be reached on foot in 20 minutes or with a bus or taxi in about 10 minutes.

Automobile
If you are coming from the north, take Highway A9 Berlin-Munich to the Hermsdorfer intersection. Then take the A4 in the direction of Frankfurt, exiting on the offramp "Weimar".

If you are coming from the south, take Highway A9 Munich-Berlin to the Hermsdorfer intersection. Then take the A4 in the direction of Frankfurt, exiting on the offramp "Weimar".

If you are coming from the west (Frankfurt a.M. region), take the A4 Frankfurt-Dresden and drive to Weimar through Eisenach and Erfurt. If you are coming from the east, the fastest route is the Highway A4 Dresden-Frankfurt.
