Monday Night Stream #13 – Radio Art Residency Weimar

Masimba Hwati, Eleftherios Krysalis and prof. Nathalie Singer met Laura Anh Thu Dang on the online space of ACC Galerie Weimar for a first talk as prologue to the Radio Art Residency in Weimar.

Original Text:

What radio can do beyond broadcasting information and entertainment is the research and study field of the “Experimental Radio” at the Bauhaus University Weimar, a laboratory for radiophonic sound art that is unique in Europe, under the direction of Prof. Nathalie Singer. In cooperation with the Goethe Institut, Bauhaus University Weimar and the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar, the Radio Art Residency program will offer two artists from non-German-speaking countries three-month stays each from 2021 onwards to explore the limits of sound and radio art and to transcend interdisciplinary constellations. The first artist in residence is Masimba Hwati from Vienna, who works with sound, video, performance and sculpture. He studied sculpture at the Harare Polytechnic Art School (Zimbabwe), has an MFA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (USA) and is a doctoral candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Prof. Nathalie Singer, Laura Anh Thu Dang and Eleftherios Krysalis present the program. Technische Unterstützung: Lefteris Krysalis Einführung: Ulrike Mönnig
