The Büro für Unabwägbarkeiten was founded 2008 by Anselm Bauer, David Hahlbrock und | |||
Franziska Windisch, as a platform for artistic, collaborative projects. | |||
The BfU collects measurment data in urban environments through so called research | |||
performances and investigates the manifold levels of urban reality with poetic research | |||
methods. | |||
The Bureau cleaves its way not only through architectural landscapes but also through | |||
social and technological ones. Hence, the use of common acknolewlegded technology is an | |||
important element in the survey on urban networks and their dynamics. Implying the | |||
gesture of scientific investigation the evaluation and processing of collected data has | |||
often a poetic approach. The documentations of the researches are usually published | |||
directly on site, applying the city space as media display. | |||
The BfU Members meander around in a city - either equipped with mobile laboratories, or | |||
they set up temporary research stations: | |||
2008 the BfU developed with MobileLab its first research performance at the Ars | |||
Electronica in Linz: collecting measurement data in public space as performative | |||
intervention. | |||
In the same year urban research performance was realized at the Plan08 arcitecture | |||
festival in Köln: performative land survey of an urban fallow land. [http://www.urban-research-performance.de www.urban-research-performance.de] | |||
2009 the Bureau was represented with a spatial installation of distance measurments in | |||
the berliner Kunstklub. | |||
A conjunction between exhibition space (installation) and public space (reserach | |||
performance) was evolved in the project [[Satellite Sailors (2010)]], which took place at the | |||
Edith-Russ-Site for Media Art in Oldenburg. On spontaneous walks through the city of | |||
Oldenburg the BfU captured live satellite images, that were transfered into a audio | |||
visual installation at the exhibition site. | |||
The buerous poetic research takes place in an everyday situation: The city. Structered by | |||
scientific methodologies, its practice (the collection, evaluation and display of | |||
measurment data) creates communicative situations in urban space. Those interventions | |||
focus on one hand on specific role playing, but perceive the city mainly as medium, stage | |||
or platform for a face to face communication as well for technological transfers. | |||
---- | |||
poetischer Recherchen in internationalen Städten untersucht.
