Since February 2022, Prof. Dr. Björn Rüffer has held the Professorship of Applied Mathematics at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. After having worked in Germany, Great Britain and Australia, the doctor in mathematics succeeds senior professor Klaus Gürlebeck. The professorship is based in the Faculties of Civil Engineering and Media and is instrumental in the basic education of Weimar’s engineering and computer science programmes.
University President Professor Speitkamp bid farewell to his colleagues and the students of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar with a reception at the Bauhaus.Atelier on Thursday, 17 February 2022. The afternoon event, organised in compliance with corona regulations, brought together many members of the university who had not seen one another in a long time. Guests visibly enjoyed the in-person event and used the time to chat and say goodbye to Professor Speitkamp. They reflected together on what the President had achieved and wished him all the best in his new position as State Secretary in the Ministry of Education. He will take office on Tuesday, 22 February 2022.
Prof. Dr. Winfried Speitkamp, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, has been asked by Thuringia’s Minister President Bodo Ramelow and Minister of Education Helmut Holter to take up the position of State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministerium für Bildung, Jugend und Sport. Prof. Speitkamp has accepted this offer and will take on this high-ranking position starting on 22 February 2022.

Urban planner and architect Dr.-Ing. Dorothee Rummel was appointed junior professor for »Stadt Raum Entwerfen« on 6 January 2022. Prior to her appointment, she worked for eleven years as a scientific staff member at the department of Sustainable Urbanism within the Department of Architecture at the Technical University of Munich.
Ein unter Beachtung aller Hygienemaßnahmen gut gefülltes Audimax erwartete Prof. Diébédo Francis Kéré am Mittwoch, 10. November 2021, zur Antrittsvorlesung seiner Bauhaus-Gastprofessur. Prof. Kéré gab lebhafte Einblicke in sein eigenes Schaffen als Architekt und forderte das überwiegend studentische Publikum dazu auf, mutig zu sein, eigene Ideen zu verfolgen und durchzuhalten, sollte es mal Schwierigkeiten geben.

The Bauhaus guest professorship has been newly filled on an annual basis since 2018; for the 2021/2022 winter semester, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is very pleased to welcome the architect, Prof. Diébédo Francis Kéré. His expertise in both ecologically and socially sustainable architecture will inspire and influence the lectures and workshops within the scope of the Bauhaus guest professorship.

Prof. Danica Dakić, professor of Freie Kunst in the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, has been honoured with the most important art prize in Germany: the Deutschen Akademie Rom Villa Massimo Rome Prize. At the end of June, Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media Monika Grütters presented the scholarships for 2022/23 residencies at the Deutschen Akademie Rom Villa Massimo and Casa Baldi, which are supported by the German government, as well as residencies at the Deutschen Studienzentrum in Venice.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Joachim Bargstädt, Professor für Baubetrieb und Bauverfahren an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, ist zum neuen Vorsitzenden des Akkreditierungsrats gewählt worden. Er tritt damit die Nachfolge des langjährigen Vorsitzenden Prof. Dr. Reinhold R. Grimm an, emeritierter Professor für romanische Literaturwissenschaft an der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena, der sein Amt aus persönlichen Gründen niederlegt.
In der Nachfolge der langen und verdienstvollen Ära von Prof. Robin Minard erhalten das Werkstattstudio und das Studio für elektroakustische Musik einen neuen Leiter: Der in Lübeck geborene Komponist Maximilian Marcoll ist als neuer gemeinsamer Professor für elektroakustische Musik und Klangkunst der Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar und der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar berufen worden. Der 39-Jährige tritt seine Stelle zum 1. April 2021 an.
Das Servicezentrum Liegenschaften bekommt eine neue Leitung: Ab 1. Dezember 2020 leitet Claudia John das Servicezentrum, welches sowohl für die Liegenschaften der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar als auch für jene der Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT zuständig ist.

Danica Dakić, Künstlerin und Professorin des internationalen Masterstudiengangs »Public Art and New Artistic Strategies«, präsentiert vom 22. November 2019 bis 1. März 2020 im Bauhaus-Museum Weimar ihre Ausstellung ZENICA TRILOGIE. Nach ihrer Premiere als Beitrag Bosnien-Herzegowinas auf der Biennale in Venedig 2019 werden die Werke der ZENICA TRILOGIE in Weimar in zwei Ausstellungsabschnitten gezeigt.
