The Presidium has placed a high priority on helping and supporting refugee students, academics and artists from Ukraine through appropriate means. The University has expressed unconditional solidarity with Ukraine and condemned Russia’s barbaric war of aggression. The Language Center of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has compiled a range of information and institutions that offer language courses and advice on language courses for refugees from Ukraine. In the 2022 summer semester, students who have fled from Ukraine will be able to take part in the German courses offered by the Language Center free of charge. The Department of Research has published a compilation of various funding agencies that have adapted or expanded their funding programs specifically for refugee scientists from Ukraine. The aim is to provide financial support to people who have already left their home country or will have to leave in the foreseeable future. Susanne Riese, an employee of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, initiated a cake bazaar on Saturday, March 12, on Herderplatz, in which many other employees of the university participated. The proceeds of 3,700 euros will benefit the Ukraine Bridge Weimar- Zamość, the city of Weimar announced on Friday.

Ukrainian and Russian students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar have fallen into various emergency situations as a result of the Russia Federation’s hostile attack on Ukraine. Immediately after the war broke out, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar contacted its students from both countries in order to determine how to best help and support them as efficiently as possible. The initial step was to identify the various needs through individual meetings. It was made clear that the most urgent need at the moment is financial aid.
