The "BUILDING BRIDGES" summaery2012 competition
On the occasion of this year's annual exhibition, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be awarding a prize for the first time. Based on the motto of the summaery2012, the competition challenges participants to take a new approach to the theme of "building bridges" in independent projects or semester work – be it in an international context, from an inter- or intradisciplinary perspective, literally or freely interpreted.
The main objective of the competition is to recognise student works which particularly demonstrate the principles of the university's "Experiment.Bauhaus" model – for example, through innovative approaches, interdisciplinary collaboration, and experimental, sustainable use of media and materials – and thereby contribute to anchoring the model within and outside the university.
PARTICIPATION
The competition only accepts works made by students of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar during the 2011/2012 academic year. Their presentation at the summaery2012 is a prerequisite for entry in the competition.
REGISTRATION
Students interested in participating in the "Building Bridges" summaery2012 competition may only apply online via the summaery2012 project website.
On the summaery2012 registration form, please mark the box "Teilnahme am Preis der summaery2012" ("Participation in the summæry2012 competition") and upload a short exposé of your project in PDF format (1-2 DIN A4 pages including photos and attachments).
REGISTRATION PERIOD
7 May – 26 June 2012 (until midnight)
JURY & AWARDS
The jury is comprised of internal and external professionals who represent the four faculties of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and their specific disciplinary cultures. In addition to assessing how well the projects address the subject of "building bridges", the jury will also judge submissions on their quality (concept and execution), degree of innovation and creativity.
In closed session, the jury will begin the first stage of the review process by selecting suitable works based on the submitted exposés. In the second stage, the jury will conduct an on-site evaluation of the competing entries on a tour of the summaery2012.
A total of six monetary prizes, ranging from 100 to 500 euros, will be awarded to the winners. The winning entries will also be presented and distinguished in selected media.
LEGAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The participants of this competition agree to the terms and conditions of the call for proposals. The results of the competition will be publicised along with the names and entries of the participants. Upon submission of their projects, the participants, should they win, grant the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar the right to publicise the submitted entries free of charge and unrestricted in terms of time, place and content in all print media, on the Internet, in presentations and data carriers. Moreover, award winners are obliged to cooperate with the university in publicising their achievement in selected media.
The decisions of the jury are legally binding and may not be contested in a court of law. Terms and conditions are subject to change.
