Echo Chamber (9.81 meters per second)
Depths (Echo Chamber)

5 tiny, sounding loudspeakers are slowly pulled up through the well by motors until they reach the grate. Then they are released and fall freely into the water with a deep, resounding splash. This process repeats itself, with all speakers always in different points in the cycle. The loudpspeakers pause for a longer amount of time under water, but only a few seconds at the grate before they are released.
For this installation, small moving sound sources are used to explore the particular acoustic of the well, which is over four meters deep. The listener hears the signals disappear as the speakers descend into the well and are submerged in the water, and then grow in strength as they return to the surface. Simultaneously, the depth and shape of the chamber affects the filtering and resonance, processing the sound naturally and dynamically.
