# Ecologically-thinking, I am also interested in working with ''Streptomyces'' – the bacterium from which approx. 70% of the antibiotics is created. Since it grows in beautiful colors, I plan on trying to isolate it on ''ISSA'' (Isolating Salt Starch Agar), on top of a texture (could be silk). Thus I can try to see whether it is capable of being used as a substitution of texture dyes or not.

:: What’s missing: Still waiting to get an answer, whether there is ISSA on BioLab. This could be also found in agricultural pharmacies, but apparently there is no such pharmacy here in Weimar.

After a while of research, I decided to focus on isolating distinct types of bacteria with the aim showing their inter-communication regarding food, as well as their dyeing abilities. Indeed, this idea is not electronics-related, but the good news is, that the name of this course has also the “aesthetics and other interesting stuff” part on it.

Main Ideas

  1. Considering the pattern-forming abilities of Paenibacillus Vortex, I am interested in depicting the communication pathways between nutrients and bacteria. Basically, how the bacteria reach for its nutrients. I am planning on isolating the Paenibacillus Vortex on agar and adding Pepton as a nutrient.
What’s missing: I am on the process of getting the correct information on where to get this bacterium. After that, work will be ready to get started with.
