Bauhaus Summer School 2020 - Registration for the international summer programme of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is open
From 2. August to 28. August 2020, over 300 students and graduates from all over the world will immerse the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in a unique intercultural atmosphere. In the language and specialised courses of the Bauhaus Summer School, they will broaden their professional horizon and get to know the university and the cultural city of Weimar. Registration is open until 1. May 2020.
»Being in this iconic school with so much history and learning new things, exchanging ideas and holding diverse discussions« was the best experience during the summer course, reports a participant of Bauhaus Summer School 2019. 98 percent satisfaction with the Summer School was the result of last year's evaluation - a great success, which the international summer programme of the Bauhaus Universität-Weimar would like to continue this year. »We are pleased to be able to offer a series of new courses such as the urbanism course »CityLab Weimar« or the design course »Light: A Tool for Artistic Work in Two and Three Dimensions« in 2020,« says Julia Rosenbusch, coordinator of the Bauhaus Summer School. In addition, the Summer School's long-standing successful courses such as »Deutsch in Weimar« or »Forecast Engineering« are also in the programme of course.
Specialised and language courses: spoilt for choice
This year, potential participants can choose from more than 15 specialised and language courses. Employees and alumni of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will also offer a wide variety of topics. The product design course »Special Connections - Flexibility in Furniture and Exhibition Design«, taught by Meike Langer, former artistic staff member of the university, is fascinating and practice-oriented. After a theoretical introduction, course participants will work in small teams to develop an exhibition system for an event during the Bauhaus Summer School. In addition to this, alumnus Julius Falk will introduce his course participants to the world of design thinking - the programme focuses on creative techniques such as »idea-typing« and »brainswarming«. Those interested can register for these and many other exciting specialist and language courses until 1. May 2020.
We are Bauhaus Summer School!
In order to provide an authentic insight into student life in Weimar and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, a team of 30 student tutors and assistants are available to the more than 300 participants. Students from the various faculties support the course leaders and are contact persons for all questions concerning Weimar, the Summer School and studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Tutors offer participants insider tips on hip bars or restaurants, take them to the cinema or one of Weimar’s various museums, where the Summer School participants and the tutoring team have free admission. »We are pleased that our tutors enjoy their job and develop a very special relationship with the course participants. International friendships develop, some which last a lifetime«, says Rosenbusch. »After all, it is the interaction between different people, cultures, characters and experiences that makes the Bauhaus Summer School so special every year. And that is why I am looking forward to a creative and eventful Bauhaus Summer School again this year«, says Rosenbusch, summarising her impressions of the Summer School.
