In the 2023 summer semester, a new venue will make its debut in Weimar’s art scene: the Freie Kunst’s newly founded »iRRE SPACE« exhibition venue. The venue is currently looking for exhibition concepts from all of the university’s faculties. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, 7 February 2023.

As of Friday, 6 January 2023, Weimar is one playground richer: A new social meeting space in the city centre was unveiled at Obergraben. The »Baukasten« architectural structure was designed by students Helene Sophia Krause and Sophie Littmann as part of their Produktdesign (Product Design) degree programme and realised with support from the Rotary Club Weimar-Bauhaus.
Ab dem 1. Januar 2023 darf sich die freie Fotografin und Alumna im Studiengang Medienkunst / Mediengestaltung Dominique Wollniok über die Förderung der Stiftung Kunstfonds freuen. Im Rahmen des sechsmonatigen NEUSTARTplus-Stipendiums soll ihr vor der Pandemie gestartetes Projekt »Mentalitätenwechsel in der Lausitz« weitergeführt werden.
In 2023, radio in Germany will be 100 years old. To mark this anniversary, the project »Listening to the World - 100 Years of Radio« has now been launched as a cooperation between the Professorship »Experimental Radio« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Goethe-Institut, Deutschlandfunk Kultur and the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of World Cultures).
Product design graduate Maren Klamser has been awarded the prestigious »Bundespreis Ecodesign« (German Ecodesign Award) in the »Nachwuchs« (Newcomer) category. As part of her final thesis, she developed a recyclable mineral solid from building rubble and transferred it into a deconstructable masonry system. The prize is endowed with 1,000 euros in prize money.
From 3 to 5 February 2023, the next Winterwerkschau show will take place. Students of all faculties are cordially invited to register for it via our online form by (NEW) 2.1.2023. For the registration it is not yet important that the work is finished. A rough description of your project and the planned exhibits is sufficient.
On Saturday, 3 December 2023, 7 p.m., the final exhibition of video and sonic art by current Radio Art Residency fellow Warrick Swinney will open. All interested parties are cordially invited to the exhibition rooms of Galerie EIGENHEIM Weimar in the gardener's cottage in Weimarhallenpark! The artist will guide through the exhibition.
