1. Making research results visible: Bauhaus-Universität Weimar launches its own university bibliography

Since January 5th 2026, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s University Bibliography has been available online. It serves as a central reference tool for publications by members and affiliates of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. It includes publications from the year 2022 onwards, from conference papers and books to book contributions and articles in academic journals. Dissertations are also included in the Bibliography. The data in the Bibliography is based on metadata from the K10plus Catalogue, the Scopus Databases, and the Digitalen Bibliothek Thüringen (DBT). University members and affiliates can also independently add previously uncatalogued to the portal. In the future, the University Bibliography will be linked to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Research Information System (FIS) (which is currently under development). This should allow bibliographic references to be directly linked to projects and other research information.
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has set itself the goal of implementing Thuringia’s strategy for digitalisation in higher education, which means establishing a tracking system for Open Access publications at all Thuringian universities.
You can find further information in the press release.

2. University Library enters into transformation agreement Sage Journals (2026-2028)

From 2026 the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will participate in the transformation agreement with publisher Sage Publications. This agreement grants university members reading access to all of Sage’s approximately 1,300 journals. In addition, university members may publish as corresponding authors in Open Access in all hybrid Sage Journals. When submitting your article, please make sure you correctly state your affiliation with Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and use your institutional e-mail address.
To publish in Sage’s approximately 200 Gold Open Access Journals, you will – as before – need to apply for funding from the Open Access Publication Fund in advance. For the majority of Gold OA journals, a 20 percent discount on article processing charges (APCs) applies as part of the transformation agreement.

3. New way to access university library TGL collection

Due to a server switch, the digital library’s TGL collection is now available on a new platform. The documents can now be searched in full, making search results more precise, and will be displayed as a PDF.
You can find more information on our TGL collection as well as the link and login details to the platform on our technical standards page in the TGL Standards tab.

4.»There is no memory without perception« Bauhaus-Universitätsverlag honors Maurice Halbwachs’ Thinking and Work

In December 2024, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar held a ceremony to rename its auditorium maximum the »Maurice-Halbwachs-Auditorium« in honor of the French sociologist and philosopher. The ceremony on 4 December 2024 featured multiple speeches by prominent academics – these can now be read in the volume Es gibt also keine Erinnerung ohne Wahrnehmung« / »Il n’y a donc pas de souvenir sans perception«, which has just been published by Bauhaus-Universitätsverlag. The volume is edited by University President Peter Benz and Library Director Frank Simon-Ritz.
The bilingual volume in German and French focuses on Maurice Halbwachs, after whom the lecture hall is named, and highlights the many connections Halbwachs had to Weimar and Germany. His work, his influence, and his death as a result of the inhumane conditions in Buchenwald concentration camp continue to shape academic and social memory to this day. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar feels a special commitment to this important 20th-century thinker and founder of the concept of collective memory, and by renaming the Audimax, it has sent a clear signal against fascism and authoritarianism.
You can find further information in the press release.

5. Current Exhibitions at the University Library

In February and March, the University Library presents three exhibitions that engage in different ways with questions of identity, materiality, and perception. »Entanglements« by Raisa Bosich (03 February–06 March 2026, F-1) is a multidisciplinary thesis project that explores human connection, migration, and cultural identity through installation, sculpture, and an artist book, taking the practice of string figures as its point of departure.
With »Chasing paper« (05–14 February 2026, Limona), students from the Bauhaus module »Wait, later this will be nothing«, led by Harry Copas, invite visitors on a scavenger hunt through the shelves of the art and design section. Several artist books are hidden within the library’s holdings and can be discovered using a specially designed floor plan. The opening will take place on 05 February 2026 at 7:00 pm in the foyer of the University Library.
The spatial installation »Fehl am Platz« (Out of Place) by Judith Klingner (11 February–11 March 2026, foyer of the University Library) addresses the experience of feeling out of place. It is based on an anonymised survey with more than 60 participants. Twelve statement banners make this often suppressed feeling visible and convey a clear message: you are not alone. The opening will be held on 11 February 2026 at 6:00 pm.
