The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar podcast »Universität gemeinsam gestalten« puts a focus on the people that shape the university. In the first series from October 2024 listeners can get to know the presidential board. In one hour interviews from the summer semester 2024 its members talk about their work, their values, hopes, working in a team as well as conflicts and challenges. An English language episode (»Meet the Presidential Board«) with five short portraits serves as a pilot.
The episodes are now also available in Digitale Bibliothek Thüringen (DBT) in Open Access and in two audio formats. Their inclusion in the DBT means that each interview has received a digital object identifier (DOI) as well as a Uniform Resource Name (URN) and can thus be permanently referenced. Documents with a URN are also listed in the German National Library catalogue.

4. Master of felting art: an exhibition on the life and work of Charlotte Sehmisch

From May 12th until July 5th in the library, the exhibition »Charlotte Sehmisch. Meisterin der Filzkunst« will honor the exceptional work of the late artist, who was internationally renowned as a pioneer of innovative felting techniques. The whole scope of her artistic work will be presented for the first time – from plastic wall reliefs to avantgarde fashion to experimental surface structures.
Sehmisch initially studied architecture at the Hochschule für Architektur und Bauwesen (HAB) from 1985 until 1991 before dedicating herself fully to textile art from the 1990s on. In addition to her work as an artist she was also a lecturer at renowned universities and shaped a new generation of textile artists with her innovative approach. The exhibition was created with the support of the artist’s circle of friends and in cooperation between the university library and the Bauhaus-Universität alumni office.
You are invited to the opening ceremony on Monday, May 12th, in the Maurice Halbwachs auditorium. A laudatio will be read by felting artist Friedrich Glatzer.
