However, it is not possible to hear what the microphone 'hears'. Communication with the viewer takes place in the direction and movement of the microphone. Viewers therefore do not perceive by means of or through the microphone, but by observing and imagining the microphone and its mode of operation. Will the viewers then listen more closely? Will they be quiet and still in order to stay under the microphone's radar?
