11/05 Perception experience in the park

Video Link: [1]

I took videos of the airflow, the water flow. For example, the wind blowing the leaves making it sway slightly there. The feeling is very subtle, I don't know how to describe it accurately, but I think the whole atmosphere of the park is very harmonious, including the sounds, the people, the sunlight, the plants, the birds, etc. Especially the sound of the water flow made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I'm going to focus more on the aspect like how to use sensors to catch dynamic data from nature and then converting them into another artistic form.

25/05 - 13/07 Project Development

1. Concept: Sense the wind

My idea is to use a structure similar to a tumbler. The bottom is a solid hemisphere with a board on top, and the sensor is placed on it. When the wind blows, the device will tilt. So I can collect the wind data through sensor.

2. Components:

Arduino Uno; accelerometer- gyroscope GY-521; buzzer

GY-521: The GY-521 module is a breakout board for the MPU-6050 MEMS (Microelectromechanical systems) that features a 3-axis gyroscope, a 3-axis accelerometer, a digital motion processor (DMP), and a temperature sensor.

3.Model Making

1) Model01: plastic hemisphere + cardboard

2) Model02: casting powder (failed because the material was too heavy)

3) Model01+arduino

From here, I started to write and test the arduino code while testing the new model structure. I wanted to find a structure that was stable and more easily driven by the wind.

4) Model03

5) Model04

Project Description:

"Hear The Wind"

This device can generate sound through the wind. The wind is like a musician playing music, and you can feel the wind by hearing this special electronic sound.
