GMU:Artists LabIII/Pedro Ramos/Topology of Masculinities Lab - Week 6

In this stage of the project, I felt the need of diving into the study of artists that also portrayed alternative Male Performativity in their works. Such process of research also lead to a further research on artists that explored Performance in Media Art, which also inspired to a potential new layer on the development of the project. Although most of the artists researched are Male Artists, a strong inspiration on the parallel found on the work of VALIE EXPORT is not to be ignored.

On this stage, the work of two specific artists constituted special relevance for me, namely:

Jas Ban Ader I'm Too Sad to Tell You (1971)

Peter Land The Cellist (1998)

I also found elemental inspiration in the work of two queer artists, in special revisiting the work of Perfume Genius, and exploring the amazing work of Nemerofsky (Thanks to Prof. Damm for presenting me his work):

Benny Nemerofsky Ramsay THE NIGHTBIRD (2013)

The upcoming stage of the project will consist on an experimentation with Performance in the dimension of Media Art.
