GMU:DIY Bio: doing things with biology/Sirin Unmanee

From Medien Wiki

Organic Pulse Imagery is a project about the differences between various organisms.

The installation includes a counter which has a projector built-in, on top of the counter is a petri dishes slots that allow the participants to choose the bacteria that they're interested to interact with and place it in the isolated slot which is connected to the Arduino, moreover the slots are used as an incubator for the bacteria to keep them living with the suitable temperature.

Under the petri dishes is pictogram of the objects, for example, the smartphone image is paired with the bacteria that is from the smartphone, to indicate the correlation between stuffs that human usually use/see and life of the bacteria.

The setting

Here is the sketch of my "ideal" setting, however my intention is not to build a whole exhibition, I will design it as a proposal. The final result might be not as neat as the design.

The electrical conductivity data from the chosen bacteria is going to be generated with Max/msp into a visual, then that visual will be projected onto the wall.

The image that is projected in this sketch is from Max/msp that I'm currently working on.

Note

The design above is not finished yet. For instance, the layout of the petri dish slots and the visual style still needs to be improved.
