Description

These days the web is everywhere: on your phone, in your car, on your cloud, in your mind. While the web may have started life as a humble application to facilitate the sharing of textual information across under-utilized digital networks, it enters its third decade as both a seemingly omnipresent technical infrastructure and unassailable sociocultural phenomenon. The web today is arguably the most significant force behind screen-based interaction in all the places and situations where it is most relevant. This module is centered on the concept of Web of Things as a central platform, wherein the web itself is no longer just an application, but an environment for interconnection and interaction between Things: namely data, devices, services and people. Participants will evaluate and employ contemporary strategies and methodologies for developing a web-connected device, object, installation, application or service.
