Unfortunately, some funding programmes, particularly the Bauhaus scholarship formats and the majority of funds and partial grants, such as those for research trips, will be suspended in the 2026/27 funding year. We will provide information as soon as possible as soon as there are any updates or further calls for applications.
The application period at the Bauhaus University Weimar has begun, and scholarships usually start in April.

Die 13 Begabtenförderungswerke unterstützen u.a. auch bei der Promotion. Für ganz unterschiedliche politische Haltungen, religiöse Hintergründe und weltanschauliche Prägungen gibt es das jeweils passende Werk. Es geht bei der Auswahl nicht vorrangig um Notendurchschnitte, sondern das Gesamtbild. Jedes der 13 Werke hat ein eigenes Bewerbungsverfahren – mit unterschiedlichen Abläufen und Fristen. Oft gibt es 2 Bewerbungsfristen, eine im Winter- und eine im Sommersemester. Erwartet werden:

- Spannendes Promotionsprojekt: Ein innovatives, wissenschaftlich fundiertes Vorhaben mit guter Betreuung

Ihab Al-Rikabi erhält DAAD-Preis 2025
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Prize for this year has been awarded to Ihab Al-Rikabi, a doctoral candidate from Iraq. Mr. Al-Rikabi is pursuing his doctorate at the Chair of Building Physics and was nominated by Professors Conrad Völker and Hayder Alsaad. His dissertation tackles current issues in building physics, focusing on both technical challenges and socially relevant aspects of building design and indoor climate.
Mr. Al-Rikabi is being recognised for his exceptional commitment to social, societal, and intercultural issues at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
The BRS team congratulates Ihab Al-Rikabi on his remarkable progress and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.

Doctoral an postdoctoral researchers in mathematics and computer science can apply for one of the 200 spots to participate in the Heidelberg Laureate Forum, an annual networking conference. The HLF offers the unique opportunity to interact with the laureates of the most prestigious prizes in the fields of mathematics and computer science, e.g. Abel Prize, the ACM A.M. Turing Award, the ACM Prize in Computing, the Fields Medal, the IMU Abacus Medal and the Nevanlinna Prize.
