Die Filmreihe »Wohnen« ist eine gemeinsame Veranstaltungsreihe der Dozentur für Film- und Medienwissenschaft an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, der Klassik Stiftung Weimar und dem Lichthaus Kino anlässlich des Jubiläumsprogramms zur ersten großen Bauhaus-Ausstellung vor 100 Jahren.
Bei der diesjährigen Langen Nacht der Museen öffnen Weimarer Museen, Galerien, Archive und Kirchen am Samstag, 13. Mai 2023, von 18 bis 24 Uhr für Besucher*innen ihre Türen. Auch die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ist an drei Standorten mit Vorträgen sowie speziellen Führungen dabei, die ganz im Zeichen des Jubiläums »100 Jahre Bauhaus-Ausstellung« stehen.
Die Corona-Krise stellt das städtische Zusammenleben auf eine harte Probe. Nicht nur sozialer Austausch, Kultur und Verkehr, sondern auch die kommunale Demokratie ist massiv beeinflusst. Wer kann in der Krise noch mitsprechen? Und wie verändert sie das Zusammenspiel von Verwaltung, Politik und Zivilgesellschaft?
Auf Einladung von Wissenschaftsminister Wolfgang Tiefensee besuchte Klara Geywitz, Bundesministerin für Wohnen, Stadtentwicklung und Bauwesen, am Donnerstag, 4. Mai 2023, die Thüringer »Allianz für ressourcenschonendes und klimafreundliches Bauen« in Weimar. Mit Unterstützung des Bundes sollen die Aktivitäten im Bereich Baustoffforschung weiter ausgebaut werden. Ziel ist die Etablierung eines bundesweiten »Innovationszentrums für nachhaltiges Bauen und Ressourcenmanagement« unter Beteiligung der Materialforschungs- und -prüfanstalt (MFPA) sowie des F.A. Finger-Institutes für Baustoffkunde (FIB) an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
For the third national »Actionstag« on 8 May 2023, the university is showing its support for the numerous educational, artistic and cultural institutions, as well as many others standing up for diversity, respect and tolerance on the 78th anniversary of the liberation from German National Socialism.
In 2023, Climate Alliance, which is the largest European city network dedicated to climate protection, is once again calling on municipalities and their inhabitants to cycle as many kilometres as possible for three weeks between May and September to help support climate protection and promote cycling. Weimar will participate in CITY CYCLING from 26 May to 15 June 2023. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will take part for the second time and warmly invites all members of the university to join its team.
Eine Veranstaltungsreihe an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar beschäftigt sich im Sommersemester 2023 mit der Geschichte der Hochschule für Architektur und Bauwesen (HAB). In vier Erzählcafés, die in Kooperation mit der Oral-History-Forschungsstelle der Universität Erfurt stattfinden, berichten Zeitzeug*innen von ihrer Studienzeit in der DDR.
The continuation of the »Equity at Bauhaus« lecture series kicks off in the 2023 summer semester at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and will delve deeper into Media Studies. Speakers will question media and digitalisation from the perspectives of environmental justice and feminism, queer theory, equal opportunity and diversity. The event is part of the »New European Bauhaus Weimar« initiative.
100 years after the first Bauhaus Exhibition, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is providing support for public student projects through the »23:ideas Fund«. On the next two Thursdays, 4 and 11 May, the anniversary year’s coordinator, Thomas Apel, will be hosting information events at 6 pm (German) and at 7 pm (English) in the Bauhaus.Atelier and will also be advising interested students.
Auch in der 17. Ausschreibungsrunde des neudeli Fellowships, dem Startup-Programm der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, war die Themenvielfalt der eingereichten Ideen groß. In diesem Semester überzeugten vor allem Projekte mit Impact: Von einer App für mehr Achtsamkeit im Berufsalltag über nachhaltiges Material für Mobiliar bis hin zu neuen Transportmöglichkeiten für Fahrradbegeisterte. Insgesamt konnten fünf Gründungsteam und eine Einzelgründerin die Jury beim Pitch überzeugen.
Am Donnerstag, 27. April 2023, begrüßte der Präsident der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Prof. Peter Benz, die neue Generation der Doktorand*innen am DFG-Graduiertenkolleg Medienanthropologie (GRAMA). Beim Empfang stellte sich die zweite Generation mit zwölf Doktorand*innen und zwei Postdoktorand*innen vor und zugleich wurden die Leistungen der Nachwuchswissenschaftler*innen aus der ersten Kohorte feierlich gewürdigt.

Starting at 6 pm on Thursday, 11 May 2023, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will for the first time be celebrating its student volunteers for an entire evening, offering all interested members of the university the opportunity to talk to each other in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Together we want to celebrate the voluntary engagement of students, something that is often not recognised.
Beim bundesweiten Wettbewerb für innovative, digitale Lösungen in der Bauwirtschaft »Auf IT gebaut« erzielten die Weimarer Absolventen Phil Niemeyer und Felix Roder in der Kategorie »Architektur« sowie Niklas Haschke in der Kategorie »Bauingenieurwesen« jeweils den ersten Platz. Die Arbeiten widmen sich wichtigen aktuellen Herausforderungen der Baubranche: der Digitalisierung, dem kostengünstigen Bauen und dem Erreichen der Klimaschutzziele. Die Preisverleihung fand statt am 18. April 2023 im Rahmen der Weltleitmesse für Architektur, Materialien, Systeme »BAU«.
The business world and society are currently in the midst of a digital transformation. From summer 2023, the »Bauhaus.Mobility Hub« will make a variety of support services available to Thuringia-based companies and public institutions to enable them to take advantage of the opportunities digitalisation brings with it. The transfer initiative is coordinated by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and connects Thuringia with a new, European network of digitalisation centres. The European Union and the Free State of Thuringia are funding the regional centre with the aim of generating local impetus for digitalisation.
Students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar actively shape the university through committee work and shape the city through various initiatives. Students can submit nominations for this year’s committee elections until 14 May. Elections will be held in June.
Each year, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar announces a new Bauhaus Guest Professor. For the 2023 summer semester, the university will have the privilege of hosting Professor Jane Bennett, who is the Andrew Mellon Professor of the Humanities at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, with appointments in the Department of Comparative Thought and Literature and also in the Department of Political Science. The focus of Bennett’s work lies in political theory; her research interests include ecological philosophy, political thought in the United States, political rhetoric and belief, and contemporary social theory.
Die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ist die Kulisse der neuen Serie »Irgendwas mit Medien«: Im Zentrum steht das selbsternannte Wunderkind Lennart (Mirko Muhshoff), das sich in seinem ersten Semester von einem Fettnäpfchen zum nächsten navigiert – und dabei auf Schritt und Tritt von einem Filmteam begleitet wird. Nicht nur das Medien-Studium stellt den jungen Mann vor absurd-komische Herausforderungen, sondern auch das Erwachsenwerden. Die Mockumentary mit großartigem Fremdschampotential gibt es in der ARD Mediathek zu sehen.
Als »Best of Best« der Newcomer kürte der Rat für Formgebung am 17. April 2023 die Produktdesign-Alumni Julia Huhnholz und Friedrich Gerlach für ihre Abschlussarbeit »The Essence of Biocement«.
Am Mittwoch, 26. April 2023, startet an der Fakultät Medien die von der Professur »Geschichte und Theorie der Kulturtechniken« organisierte Ringvorlesung »Andere Kulturtechniken«. Immer mittwochs im Sommersemester 2023, um 19 Uhr, stellen international renommierte Wissenschaftler*innen neue Ansätze der Kulturtechnikforschung vor.
