From 1 to 31 March 2023, Hon. Prof. Micky Remann will visit the Thai Chulalangkorn University in Bangkok as a visiting professor. Together with the Asian students, he will develop concepts for 360-degree projections and performances in lectures and exercises.
Since January 2023, Deputy Prof. Dr. -Ing. Patrick Staubach has been head of the Department of Geotechnics at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s Faculty of Civil Engineering. The doctorate-holding civil engineer previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the same department in Weimar, as well as in the Department of Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering and Environmental Geotechnics at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB). Since 1 October 2022, Dr. Sandra Huning has been Deputy Professor for Urban Planning at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism. Until 30 September 2024, the habilitated urban and spatial planner with a doctorate degree will be serving in place of Prof. Dr. Barbara Schönig, who has been appointed State Secretary in the Thuringian Ministry of Infrastructure and Agriculture (Thüringer Ministerium für Infrastruktur und Landwirtschaft).

Martin Siegler, who is a research associate within the Professorship for Media Philosophy at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, has been awarded second prize in the humanities and cultural studies section of the 2022 German Study Prize for his dissertation on the subject of media articulations of human existence in emergency and catastrophe situations. Conferred by the Körber Foundation, this award honours outstanding work of particular social significance.
In its meeting on 6 July 2022, the University Senate unanimously voted in Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andrea Osburg as the new Vice President for Research, Arts and Young Academics. The professor for construction chemistry and polymeric building materials was nominated by the Interim President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and appointed for three years beginning immediately after the vote, in accordance with the University Charter. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andrea Osburg’s term in office thus began on 6 July and she will be available at least until the future university president takes office.
On Friday 15 July 2022, Hannes Dünnebier was honoured with the Lyonel Art Prize during the »summaery2022« annual show at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The award for outstanding young artists is endowed with €2,000 and has been conferred to artistic dissertations from the Faculty of Art and Design since 2019 by the Lyonel e. V. association for the promotion of art, design and culture.

Today, Wednesday, 6 April 2022, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar University Assembly elected Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes as Interim President of the university. Prof. Emes has been carrying out the responsibilities of University President for the last six weeks in her role as the Presidium’s interim President. Interim President is an independent position provided for in the Thuringian Higher Education Act (ThürHG) and is elected to take over duties during the period between when a President leaves office and a new President is elected. The election requires a professorial majority vote from professors belonging to the University Assembly.
