At the renowned media art festival »Ars Electronica« in Linz, a total of 29 artists from the Faculty of Art and Design will be exhibiting their works in the »Campus« area from 6 to 10 September 2023. Under the title »Non-machines: Playground of Perspectives«, these artists will enrich the festival programme with contemporary debates and works from the »Media Art and Design« degree programme.
The Haus am Horn facade projections, created within the scope of a project of the MediaArchitecture degree programme in the 2023 summer semester, will be presented on 31 August and 1 September 2023 during the Bauhaus Weeks. All interested persons are warmly invited to attend.
Vom 2. September bis 15. Oktober 2023 sind im Bad Berkaer Coudray-Haus 40 Entwürfe für einen Kneipp-Pavillon von Architekturstudierenden der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar zu sehen. Interessierte sind herzlich zur Vernissage am 2. September 2023, 15 Uhr, eingeladen.

Diesen Fragen widmet sich eine Gesprächsrunde mit Expert*innen am Freitag, 25. August 2023, im Rahmen des StadtLand Forums der IBA Thüringen.
Am Dienstag, 15. August 2023, wurden die »Bauhaus-Wochen«, genau 100 Jahre nach der ersten großen Bauhaus-Ausstellung von 1923, vor dem Bauhaus-Museum in Anwesenheit von Universitätspräsident Prof. Peter Benz eröffnet. Nach einem heftigen Regenguss, der die Veranstaltung kurzzeitig unterbrach, wurde schließlich doch noch mit einer Geburtstagstorte in Form des Hauses Am Horn, Musik und einer Tanzperformance gefeiert.
Unter dem Motto »Lob dem Lichtspiel« zeigt die V. Weimarer Stummfilm-Retrospektive unter Beteiligung des Fachbereichs Medienwissenschaft der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und der Universitätsbibliothek vom 29. August bis 10. September 2023 ein ausgewähltes Stummfilmprogramm, das seinen Fokus auf eine der einflussreichsten Phasen der Filmgeschichte richtet und als festes Kulturprogramm innerhalb des Kunstfest Weimar etabliert ist. An zehn Abenden sind insgesamt 19 verschiedene Filme im Lichthaus-Kino und im Deutschen Nationaltheater Weimar zu sehen, die 1923 in den beiden Weimarer Kinos »Scherffs Lichtspielhaus« (Marktstraße 20) und »Reform-Licht-Spiele« des Hofphotographen Louis Held (Marienstraße 1) gezeigt wurden.
Immer mehr Menschen suchen nach alternativen Baustoffen, die natürlichen Ursprungs sind und regional erzeugt werden können. Aufgrund seiner guten Ökobilanz und Wärmeleitfähigkeit rückt Strohballenbau daher verstärkt in den Fokus. Fehlende Standards in Produktion und Genehmigung erschweren jedoch die breite Markteinführung. Welche Stellschrauben gedreht werden müssen, wird im Rahmen der »StrohBallenBauTage« am 11. und 12. September 2023 an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar beleuchtet. Eine Anmeldung zur Fachtagung unter dem Motto »Generation Stroh« ist noch möglich.
Twelve young scientists and their mentors from the USA, Poland, Austria and Germany will come to Weimar this August for the »Media Philology 2023« Summer Academy The event will be held from 28 to 30 August in the Bibliothek Julius Petersen of the Goethe- und Schiller-Archiv and will address questions on media studies and philology.
From 15 August to 10 September, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and the Kunstfest Weimar invite you to exhibitions, workshops and performances: The »Bauhaus-Weeks« begin on Tuesday, 15 August at 6 pm in front of the Bauhaus-Museum Weimar, exactly 100 years after the first major Bauhaus Exhibition. In 1923, this event presented the results of work by the State Bauhaus Weimar to the public for the first time and acted as a magnet for numerous artists, intellectuals and art lovers.
From 13 August to 2 September 2023, experimentation, learning and building will be taking over the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus once more: 215 participants from 50 different countries will be attending various one- to three-week language and tech-nical courses at the Bauhaus Summer School.
Starting on Tuesday, 15 August 2023, visitors will be able to experience special works of art from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, with the award-winning works of the »born to be bauhaus« art prize being shown for the first time in a synopsis exhibition in the premises of the nova space in the Schiller Museum.
On Thursday, 24 August 2023, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s bauhaus.medien.bühnen Lab, together with Kunstfest Weimar, invites you to a workshop with theatre director, visual artist and architect Robert Wilson. To kick off this year’s annual exhibition at the Bauhaus-Universität, Frederik Sukop and Beatrice Girth get to talking about the »Party101 – Claim Your Campus« Bauhaus.Module. Frederik Sukop is one of the instructors of the Module, which is organising the opening event. Beatrice Girth is a Master’s student in Visuelle Kommunikation (Visual Communication) and a graphic designer for summaery2023. Frederik talks about how event management has changed with the introduction of the Bauhaus.Modules and what the »101« stands for as he answers Beatrice’s questions.
Bauhaus-Universität Weimar President Prof. Peter Benz speaks about this year’s motto, »23:gardens«, and offers his insights on the annual exhibition’s extensive programme in an interview with students Lisanne Pieper, Jola Tausendfreund and Cosima Riese. Die Deutsche Dekane- und Abteilungsleiterkonferenz DARL hat ihre 21 Mitgliedsuniversitäten aufgerufen, sich aus Anlass des 100. Jubiläums der ersten großen Bauhaus Ausstellung 1923, an einer Ausstellung in Weimar zu beteiligen. Ausstellungsort ist der Kubus des x.stahl, der im Rahmen einer Ideenwerkstatt für interdisziplinäre Lehr-, Forschungs- und Präsentationsformate weiterentwickelt werden soll.

Der Film Two Houses, 2019 aus dem gleichnamigen Forschungsprojekt an der Professur Entwerfen und Wohnungsbau entstanden, wird vom 27.7.-03.09.2023 in der Session #02 in der Ausstellung »Atmosphérique, filmer l'architecture« im Arc en Rêve in Bordeaux gezeigt. Die Ausstellung beruht auf einer Zusammenarbeit mit dem CCA – Centre Canadien d’Architecture Montréal und TRANSFER Global Architecture Platform Zurich.
